Chase Courington likens Helvetica to hot sauce; tastes great in moderation.

- Lucid Lighting is a personal project in identity for a conceptual “green” lighting company. This personal project was born from a class assignment at RMCAD to create a different identity (the Adobe Design and Build id system). During research I discovered that incandescent light bulbs emit roughly 5 times more CO2 emissions than compact flourescents. The logo of Lucid is a simple outline of the CFL with Helvetica Neue as the typeface and a circle lock up. I feel that the simplicity of the logo creates an effective communication of energy and efficiency. The strong influence of Swiss design style including Paul Rand and Massimo Vignelli helped me to select Helvetica as a typeface. Summer‚ 2009
